Mrs Sebihana SKENDEROVSKA (Macedonia)
Mrs Sebihana SKENDEROVSKA is born on 02 February, 1978 in Kumanovo, Macedonia. In 2007 she graduated at Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje as professor of Macedonian and South Slavic Literature.
Since 1997, she is actively involved in the civic movement with a special interest in Women’s Rights and Youth Participation within the Roma community on national and international level. Mrs Skenderovska is a founder and active member of the Roma women network “Together”, the “East Meet West” Youth Network, the women network “Romani Women United and the “National Roma Centrum” NGO in Kumanovo.
Mrs Skenderovska has developed and participated in number of various researches targeting the reproductive health of the Roma women. She has also assisted in creation of several magazines among which the “ONE” magazine specialised in Human Rights/Roma Rights activities. Ms Skenderovska has published several articles and reports concerning Health and Women’s Rights and Youth Participation.
She was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the European Roma and Travellers Forum (ERTF) in 2005, during the first Plenary Assembly. In 2009 during the fifth Plenary Assembly, Mrs Skenderovska was elected as a Vice-President of the ERTF.
Today, beside her Vice-Presidential duties at the ERTF, Mr Skenderovska is actively involved in the work of the “National Roma Centrum” where she is in charge for implementing projects with a special focus on Health, Education and promotion of Women’s rights.
